CAMPS BY GRADE

This website is filled with detailed information, but can be hard to navigate if you’re new to this whole theater thing.

Our camps take place at St David of Wales church and Genesis Project inside and outside the space. While we love our partnership with the St David’s and Genesis Project communities we are not affiliated with any religion and do not incorporate religion into any aspect of our camp day.

See below to find your child’s grade (for the NEXT SCHOOL YEAR) and see which camps they’re eligible for. It is still recommended that you read ALL of the info on our specific camp pages (by clicking the show titles).

ADVANCED MIDDLE SCHOOL: Parents of middle school students: Wondering whether your child is considered advanced? Auditions for Guys and Dolls requires an audition and your student needs to have been in at least 2 PDC productions. Even if your child has been in a few PDC shows it does not mean they are ready to join the advanced group. They could miss out on fundamental skills-building theater games and activities.
Do they already know how a PDC camp works? We move very fast. The kids in our Guys and Dolls camp will skip most fundamental skill-building theater games as they have already learned them. Caroline will introduce new challenging activities that build on what they already know. They’ll be expected to approach their characters, songs, dances, etc in the ways we’ve worked in previous camps and classes. They will learn lines and songs quickly without reminders or very much help.
It is not always about musical ability or the # of shows they have completed. Some kids who have been with PDC for many years may just not want to deal with the added stress the first day could cause. Here, advanced also means a great work ethic:
Do they attend rehearsals with a good attitude?
Do they practice at home and come to class/camp prepared?
Do they regularly remember their script and materials for class?
Does your child jump into drama activities with enthusiasm?
Do they volunteer in class and offer to lead?
Do they work hard, learn quickly and have a sense of teamwork?
Most importantly- will your child feel lost or unprepared being in this group? or will they feel energized and confident?
The other camps offer them the opportunity to be leaders and to continue to build on their skills.
